An Evening at the Flying Buttress

Last night Sam, Jim & I had a lovely dinner
at the Flying Buttress...
A quaint bistro not far from A.U. ...
We were able to chat with the 3 chefs while they prepared
a fabulous Mexican feast...
They even allowed Jim to make the Margaritas...
Then we had a lovely walk around the National Cathedral...

several lovely photo ops..

Then it was time to head back to the Flying Buttress...
For dessert and a little bubbly to celebrate
someone's new job!!!
Thank you, daughters, for the lovely evening!!!

Some Grace Time!!

Papa, Nana & Uncle Sam took a trip to D.C. Tuesday evening...
We heard there was a group of AP History students
from Austin, Minnesota..

that is.....MIN uh SO tuh...visiting in town...
One of them looked a lot like granddaughter Grace.
Some played hacky sack in front of the Lincoln Monument...
and the sadly missing (under repair) Reflecting Pool...
But it was a good night for being a tourist...
A great time at Union Station where Grace & her friends...
wanted to show their allegiance to a certain musical superstar...
They claim to be "Beliebers
Sam is not!!
Grace with 2 of her friends...Kirsten and Ethan.
We didn't buy this patch for Sam...
Sorry for the dark picture of Grace and her D.C. family...
What a treat to see her even for just a couple of hours.

Backyard BBQs to start the Summer

The hot temps in the 90s didn't keep us inside this week.
Hamburgers after church with all the kids & guest Chase...

and Brett stopped by.

TUESDAY night was Hammann-Furnish Time...
It's been awhile since the 4 kids were all here at the same time...
So we had to do a hair check.
For the first time in years...Sam is shortest!!!
A great start to the summer and more good times.
