Another Busy Weekend

Friday was our turn to serve at the Lord's Table Soup Kitchen
For many years our family has had the joy of serving together.
But gradually the children left home
and sometimes Jim's schedule doesn't allow it.
How good of God to provide a minivan full of
students and former students....
All who want to serve our Lord by serving others!!!
And serve we did---about 70 hungry folks
and the food was great.
***************
Saturday night brought some more houseguests...
....all the way from GERMANY!!
Josef and Editha Korte, landed at Dulles.
And we had the privilege of showing them our homeland.
One of our first stops: Georgetown!!
I love showing off Hilda's historic and beautiful home!

A little refreshment in the parlor??
Her lovely garden out back.
Aha! What is this in front of the Smithsonian??
Editha recognized Kiepenkerl right away!!
A replica of the famous statue that stands
in front of a restaurant in Muenster, Germany.
A farmer bringing his goods to market in a large basket.
The Lincoln Memorial---always my favorite.
I introduce my German friends to FDR---
a name they had certainly heard before.
Once our nations were at war...now we are friends.
Nothing like a little boat trip inside the Native American Museum.
However, the next day---no such luck with the reservoir too low.
If one cannot ride in a boat, what better place to see them...
than the Inner Harbor in Baltimore.
Jim introduces our friends to a Baltimore treat--
crab cakes!!
In the evening, Josef and Jim join Sam at College Park
to cheer on the Maryland soccer team.
After a 45 minute rain delay
(the 3 "boys" headed for a library & WiFi)
they watched a Terps victory.
Let it rain on their game...
Editha and I enjoyed fellowship at home!!
Come Back Again, Kortes!!!
