Snowmageddon or Snowpocalypse

We bragged about our pre-Christmas snow storm...
But we hadn't seen anything yet...

Welcome to the BIG ONE...
The February Storm of 2010
Our street around 10 a.m. on Saturday--
It was still coming down.
A trail to the mailbox---will the post man come soon?Jim's amazing shoveling skills were awesome...
When we were only at 22 inches---still coming down...
But how nice it is to have a neighbor with a snow blower??
A few days ago, this is Becky doing her bird watching thingy...
This was her yesterday...
When the birds were practically walking up to the feeder...
Can you count them??
Check out those waiting their turn in the trees.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay---so there was no power and we were hungry...
Out came the camping gear...Throwing caution to the wind...along with good personal style
(ugly sweater + plaid vest = warmth)
I cooked dinner on the Coleman---
who can say carbon monoxide??
With 30 inches on the ground & 16 hours without power--
the house was getting chilly
and I remembered the kerosene heater
purchased 10 years ago when we all feared Y2K.
It had never been open. After assembly Jim read that we couldn't use
kerosene older than one year.
Hmmm...what about 10 years?
We put the thing back in the box.
AT 10:18 p.m. we thanked God and the great guys at PEPCO
Our power came back on.
Whoa! I know why I live in NC! Even though we've had a terribly cold winter here, it looks tropical compared to yours!
