PEACE CORPS PARENT IN PERU

It started out as a Mother-Daughter Trip----
but we added a chaperone
Avianca has become my favorite airline--
-hot meals in Economy!!
After landing in El Salvador we realized it was---
what would you say?----HUMID!
No X-ray machines.... but you do have to go through security again....
These ladies know how to unpack.
LIMA!!
A huge shopping mart!!

Where one can get DVDs for a couple of bucks!!

And about any brand of shoes---except Under Armour.
Shopping on the street is an experience too....
creepy mannequins.
Tasty gelato---maybe not quite as good as in Rome
The Colonial Plaza
Destination: that cross on the hill (behind Sam's head)
The ride up the hill was quite a traffic adventure...

A look at the city from on high.....it's big and dry...

Abby's place in Jesus Mara neighborhood....was comfy
Good Friday in Lima at the Cathedral...

Outside the vendors sold crucifixes made from palms.

 pomegranates...

quail eggs...to peel and eat

Not everyone felt the sacredness of the season....obviously

********************************
On to Machu Picchu----by way of Cuzco.

The view outside our hostel...
The view inside...

The View from the Front Door...
A little Lunch....
My Coca Tea for high altitude sickness....
and for weaning one off of cocaine addiction
 Traffic--just as chaotic as Lima...

PLANES---TRAINS---TAXIS---BUSES---to Machu Picchu

 MACHU PICCHU----
PICTURES ARE BETTER THAN WORDS

WE'VE BEEN TO THE MOUNTAIN----

Then we spent the night in Ollantaytambo

MORE PLANES, TRAINS, AUTOMOBILES AND BUSES...
BACK TO LIMA
LET THERE BE LIGHT---

MIRA FLORES

BARRANCA

DINNER By the OCEAN
 JESUS ON THE BUS--
SO LONG LIMA---WE LOVED OUR VISIT!
GRACIAS, ABIGAIL,
WHAT A WONDERFUL TRIP!!
